Happy Guy Fawkes day! There isn't much celebrating in these parts, though there is a bonfire or two where you're supposed to make a guy fox doll and then burn it. I know over in New Found Land their quite crazy about the celebration. Though, being newfs I'm guessing it means more of another reason to party and get drunk.

Yeah from what I hear... people burn the Guy Fawkes doll... then shoot off fireworks... then get shitfaced.... and people don't really remember why they're doing it... it's just an excuse to get hammered.
for those of you that don't know.... November 5th 1605 Parliament was set to be opened. Some crazy angry Catholics wanted to blow it up along with the protestant King James I of England/ VI of Scotland and his family.
The night before they found Guy Fawkes chillin in the basement guarding a pile of faggots(bundles of sticks... not the homosexual one). He had a match and there was dozens of kegs of gun powder...
They were like "HAI WATCHOO DOOIN THUR?"
Rah Rah Rah drama... executions and all that jazz.
